Education.
Because someone’s going to have to save the world.
Leading a school is one of the world’s toughest jobs. Sometimes you need some help.
Education is the key to all of the world’s problems. Those who know me well will have heard this mantra spill from my mouth a thousand times.
The rewards of leading schools are immense and so are the expectations, especially as we navigate a pandemic, all the time knowing that the damage caused will take a decade or more to fix.
I’m an experienced school leader and governor with the deepest empathy for my colleagues working in schools.
As a Headteacher, it can feel like you have no one to talk to in confidence - as a coach, I can give you the headspace you need to think, vent, plan and recharge.
You need a strong leadership team around you to share the load and help you to drive your vision forwards. I’ve supported the growth of effective leadership teams since 2016.
Governors can be your greatest ally. They can also be a monumental pain in the backside. I’m a serving governor and worked for the National College as governance trainer for 3 years - let me help them to see what it is to be critical friends.
It can be lonely at the top but it doesn’t have to be.
My Credentials.
Qualified Teacher.
I qualified as a teacher in 2003 and taught in the classroom throughout my career, right up until the point where the rigours of Headship tipped the balance. You can’t do it all.
Local Leader of Education
For 2 years I worked as a DfE appointed LLE in 10 schools across West Yorkshire. I supported Heads, SLTs and Governors and latterly as an interim Head at schools in crisis between 2017 and 2019.
NPQSL & Accredited Coach
I’ve coached teacher and leaders as part of my roles for over 10 years. I’m an International Coaching Federation Accredited Associate and have an active coaching practice.
Every job in the book
Over 15 years I moved through schools from the classroom to the Head’s office. I know how hard and often lonely it can be at the top. I also know how rewarding it is when you’ve got a great team.
